One of the great things about operating a laser engraving shop in the Roanoke Valley is that I create unique items for people that like locally made pieces.
While I make a lot of cool unique gifts, I’ve also found a few places right here in Virginia that you might want to check out when it comes to unique gifts.
Heart and Spade Forge
If you like to cook, THIS place is a must-have, it’s Heart and Spade Forge and it’s located in Roanoke, Virginia. Owner Jed Curtis has been making handcrafting this unique cookware since 2012 and he’s a Roanoke College alum.
You’ll find various pieces that he makes and while it’s a bit on the expensive side, his work is truly remarkable and well worth the cost as his cookware can last generations!

Handley Watches
Another awesome place to check out is Handley Watches which is located in Richmond. Founded by a husband-and-wife (and dogs) duo, Handley Watches is based on a simple concept, that watches should combine safe, flexible bands with sophisticated, modern dials.
These watches average $200 to $250 and are crafted, versatile watches for active professionals in the 21st century.

Essentially Zen Shop
I first met Sherrie and Rob just before the COVID pandemic and my wife Carole and I fell in love with their shop when we stepped inside.
They handcraft all sorts of soaps, body frostings, candles, and accessories in Staunton, a small town in Virginia just off I-81.
They produce & offer hand-crafted, small-batch, products for both body and home that are made with a combination of organic, sustainable, and/or all-natural ingredients.
Carole, my wife LOVES their body frosting, her favortie is the ‘Flannel’. Personally, I enjoy their soaps and all the scents they have to offer. You can shop thgouth their online website or visit them in person if you can.
